Aerosol Properties Plots

In-situ Aerosol Profiles at SGP

IAP Profile Plots

Description of Profile Plols

There are four plots for each flight:
Plot 1
scattering coefficient at 550 nm vs altitude
absorption coefficient at 565 nm vs altitude
(adjusted to STP conditions)
Plot 2
ambient temperature vs altitude
ambient humidity vs altitude
reference nephelometer humidity
humidified nephelometer humidity
Plot 3
co-albedo (1 - single scattering albedo)
back-scatter fraction
Plot 4
green/red Angstrom coefficient
f(RH) (post-May 2003)
green/blue Angstrom coefficient (pre-May 2003)

The asterisks (*) on plots 1, 3, and 4 represent surface measurements of aerosol optical properties from SGP.
The plots are organized by quarter.

Quarter 1, 2000 Quarter 1, 2001 Quarter 1, 2002 Quarter 1, 2003 Quarter 1, 2004 Quarter 1, 2005 Quarter 1, 2006
Quarter 2, 2000 Quarter 2, 2001 Quarter 2, 2002 Quarter 2, 2003 Quarter 2, 2004 Quarter 2, 2005 Quarter 2, 2006
Quarter 3, 2000 Quarter 3, 2001 Quarter 3, 2002 Quarter 3, 2003 Quarter 3, 2004 Quarter 3, 2005 Quarter 3, 2006
Quarter 4, 2000 Quarter 4, 2001 Quarter 4, 2002 Quarter 4, 2003 Quarter 4, 2004 Quarter 4, 2005 Quarter 4, 2006

Flights are identified by date (consisting of year and day of year (DOY)), flight # (A for the first flight, B for the second flight and so on), and by flight location (typically CART for over the CART site). Ideally all flights would take place directly over the CART site, however if air traffic control determines conditions are unsafe then the profile is made over one of several sites near the CART site. The designations for these other locations are: H76 and OK56.
